About Our Organization

Our "Organization"

ConserveLands.com is the brainchild of Ed Trousil – a Routt County rancher, philanthropist and entrepreneur - that believes there is a better way. A better way for landowners, land trusts and land conservation professionals to work together.

In 1999, Ed conserved over 1600 acres of land, preserved a working ranch, platted 16 home sites, and along with his wife Cheri, started a non-profit hippotherapy center for children. Ed’s experience working with numerous local, state, and federal agencies, land trusts, conservation organizations, appraisers, attorneys - and other landowners - led him to establish a website that fosters informed land stewardship in Colorado.

Ed engaged a host of advisor: land planning firm Plan Tools LLC, land conservation consultant Conservation Partners Inc., and two companies that specialize in website design - Headwaters Marketing and Web Equilibrium LLC – to create ConserveLands.com. Now that the website is "live", these advisors will monitor and update the website and respond to inquiries.

Why a ".com" and not a ".org"? There's no agenda or profit motive - we just figured getting a website up and running is easier than establishing a non-profit or other "organization"! Our "business plan" is to have the website support itself with a few sponsors and key alliances with respected land conservation organizations.

That's it - we hope you find the information useful, and join our community dialogue. We value your involvement, because at its core our organization is simply an online community of individuals interested in enhancing the land conservation experience.
